Time to Make the Donuts, Breads, Cookies, etc…..

I think most people would agree (though perhaps this a bit too much supposition), the winter brings us closer to baked goods. In the summer I weigh about 10-15 pounds less than i do in the winter. Winter makes me want to chow down. Not just on baked goods but also on chowders and stews. I eat fairly balanced most of the time. I am not a dieter or someone who buys low-fat anything, I believe in balance you can eat butter and not weigh 700 pounds. I eat within portions and I keep an eye on my sugars, starches and “bad” stuff. Though I admit I let it slide off and on.

Moving up north where the winters are longer and sometimes colder, where the skies stay grey most of the day, I have found myself rummaging through my cupboards and pulling out things to make and bake, it also does not help that my daughter is a girl scout and soon our cupboards will have at least 100 boxes of shortbreads, thin mints and caramel delights. So far I have beaten the cookie monster inside myself.

What does a girl do when she is trying to keep herself from going over the edge with Winter baking, which will then force her to eat the lovely, warm and deliciously good smelling items from her oven or atop her stove?

She gets a job as a baker.

Yep, that’s what I did.

6 A.M. is going to come early….

I will not eat the cookies….I will not eat the cookies….I will not eat the cookies….I will eat the cookies…..Huh? What?

Out of the frying pan and into the fire…. But happily so.  🙂
